Eamonn Bonner is from the fishing village of Burtonport, Co. Donegal. Eamonn’s adult poetry and short stories have won national awards, the Dart Prize and Patrick McGill Award. He’s been published in books, magazines, journals and online. His poetry has been featured on local, regional, and national radio, and on BBC television.
Years ago, when he was younger and thinner, Eamonn combined his weekend hobbies of photography and writing to create greeting cards with Donegal themes for family and friends who were living abroad. They proved popular and he began to make greeting cards for sale locally in Donegal Airport, Glenveagh Castle, Ionad Cois Lúiche in Dunlewey and other outlets around the county. Eamonn is also the founder of North West Words, the spoken word reading series, and online Arts Magazine which has been running since 2010. He is the MC at the monthly events and helps organise the children and adult writing competitions.
